When cooking beef, veal, or bison, we've found that more simple seasoning is the way to go.  Heavy salt and pepper should be the stars, and bovine purists (hey there, Texas!) would say they're the only seasoning you need, giving leeway for a touch of cayenne or other chili pepper.  Fode & Beed generally stay on the outskirts of sugarville when cooking red meats, but we've also added a few savory spices to the classic S&P mix to create the red-'n-dead-meat rub below.  Enjoy!

What you will need:

  • 4 parts* Salt
  • 2-3 parts Black & White Pepper
  • 1 part Onion Powder
  • 1 part Garlic Salt
  • <1 part Smoked Paprika (optional)
  • 1/2-part Red Pepper (optional)

*One "part" = One Tablespoon (this recipe makes enough rub to fill a basic spice shaker, give or take.  use smaller or larger  proportions, or "parts", to quantify your own supply)
